2nd Review – Music (3/20/23)

Kara no Kyoukai Original Soundtrack – In the Garden of Sinners composed by Yuki Kajiura

The music comes from a movie series that digs into the hearts of their characters with a string of mysteries. It starts silent to give you a moment for yourself. A moment you need before you step into the two-minute world of this song. The silence causes bewilderment when the music starts, or it can be the pause you need before it begins. Once the music walks in, you hear distant birds. They feel dark with a tint of freedom. Tiny chirps welcome you to meet a haunted voice. Beautiful like true love’s ghost. To me it’s an explosion of memories. Every-time I play it, it carries emotion to me. Tears, solitude, breakdowns, sad laughter, and loneliness. For me it’s a gem, one I cannot over-use. If I overview its luster I’ll become numb to its enchantment. Each time it comes to my ears it gains meaning. Whenever I hear it again, it means I’ve grown up. Once again, I realize I’ve grown up. This song encapsulates the parting of joy and offers me a moment of retrospection. There’s this sense of long-lost love in the song. A soundtrack without lyrics. Yet it hurts me more than any other track. It hurts with a touch of love. Nostalgia and lost memories. To those who listen to it for the first time, I can’t guarantee your experience. But for me it was like a trance. In those two minutes I was stuck, it was only me and the music.
